DE ARAGÓN A LA CÁTEDRA DE SAN ILDEFONSO. LOS PONTIFICADOS MEDIEVALES DE LOS ARZOBISPOS DE TOLEDO DE ORIGEN ARAGONÉS

Resumen

El presente artículo presenta las biografías de aquellos prelados originarios de la Corona de Aragón que ocuparon el arzobispado de Toledo desde su restauración en el año 1086. En el mismo ponemos en relación sus individualidades con las del resto de arzobispos toledanos, su procedencia familiar, sus actuaciones como prelados en la sede primada y sus fallecimientos. Analizamos las causas que llevaron a estos extranjeros a ocupar el beneficio eclesiástico más importante del reino de Castilla que tenía anejo la cancillería del reino, inscritas dentro de las relaciones entre los dos reinos peninsulares.

this paper presents the biographies of these prelates from Crown of Aragon that were elected archbishops of Toledo after the restoration of the archdiocese at 1086. In this study, we make a relation between their individualities and other archbishops of Toledo, their familiar origin, their government like prelates in Toledo and their deaths. We analyze the reasons that put them in the most important Castilian bishopric (and chancellors of the Kingdom) in spite of their foreign origin. these reasons fall whithin the context of Castilian-Aragonese relationships.
