Clasificación del relieve en el occidente de Cuba con fines agropecuarios sobre la base del análisis de los procesos exógenos

Abstract

Based in the study of exogenic processes, a typological classification of relief at 1:25000 scale was made for the first time for western Cuba, stablishing as major units for this classification the complexes of relief type and the relief types.These units, due to its particularities, allowed us to integrate in the analysis the rest of the environmental factors that influence most importantly in the agricultural-livestock activities, and to express them through the use of several variables. The studied factors have been: geomorphological (morphometry,morphography and exogenic processes), pedological (genetic types, depth, humification, etc.), and hydroclimatic ones (precipitation, temperature, mantledepth, etc.).By using a complex evaluation matrix, the analysis of the conduct of the mentioned factors of the previously delimited relief units was made. This matrix expreses both the main limitations for agricultural-livestock activities and evaluates the natural potentials of each of the relief units. With the use of an special cartography, the exogenic processes were represented as well astheir influence area, the major taxonomic units of the classification, and the areal distributioh of the natural potentials.
