Abstract

In the realm of gender studies and feminist movements, numerous artistic expressions challenge the hermeticism traditionally linked to the paradigm of motherhood, exposing its fissures and complexities. A notable example is El cielo de la selva (2023) by Elaine Vilar Madruga. Accordingly, this study aims to analyse the progressive deconstruction of the Victorian concept of the «Angel of the House» to account for new configurations of the maternal role. It will also explore how, in the face of a harrowing reality marked by drug trafficking and violence against subaltern subjects, the female figure employs monstrosity as her primary form of resistance
