Abstract

This review-article of Paul Julian Smith argues against the tendency to rewrite texts from the past in terms of post-structuralist, ahistorical and descontextualized conceptions. More specifically against mastercodes taken as interpretative principles overhastily without specifying each mode of production, privileging paradigms of the dominant episteme.
