Abstract

This article examines the connections between English and Spanish literature through an analysis of space, characters, and metafiction, comparing Miguel de Cervantes and Don Quixote de la Mancha (1605–1615) with Lewis Carroll and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There (1871). These three novels and their authors share analogous elements related to the dreams experienced by the protagonists of the stories. These aspects are explored through a comparative narratological and thematological analysis.
